The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), operational since 2008, marked the beginning of a new CERN accelerator complex lifecycle management, with major maintenance, consolidation, and upgrade interventions strategically grouped during Long Shutdowns (LSs). After introducing the CERN Engineering Department, the key interventions and upgrades currently underway during the third Long Shutdown (LS3) are highlighted. These efforts focus on enhancing safety, performance, and operational availability, while integrating cutting-edge technologies and delivering new facilities for the global particle physics community. The session will conclude with a flavour on the post-LHC era.
